Day 4 – Cinous-cel to Dobbiaco

Travelled: 246km

Andrew: It was nice to finish driving at about lunch time, we stopped at a lakeside campsite nestled between some huge Alpine peaks. It was very frustrating to not be able to fish the stream below the lake as it was packed like sardines in a tin can but with trout, I was told quite plainly you practically needed to be a minister of Italy to get a permit to fish. Met a very friendly Englishman who was very interested in our trip then proceeded to tell the rest of the camp about it too! Quite amusing.

Debbie: Today was a short drive. We decided we wanted a time out from the car so found a campsite next to a lake and spent the afternoon doing some washing and checking the Land Rover out. Italy has been lovely and “Italian”. We will only be spending one night here given that we have both seen a lot of Italy in previous trips. Everywhere we go people look and stare and those brave enough come up and chat to us – they all think we are crazy! Hopefully tomorrow we will get out of the Alps and do some more flat driving instead of up and down very steep roads.
